Reiki - An Overview

REIKI is a form of alternative medicine also called energy healing. REIKI practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which "Universal Healing Energy" (KI) can be transferred and directed through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional, mental or physical healing. REIKI can be practiced in person, with actual Laying-on of the hands onto the client or long distance with visualization of the client by the REIKI practitioner and positioning of the hands upon the visualized areas.

This means that we share in this same all-prevailing energy or life-force and there are NO physical barriers or limits to prevent it from reaching the person.

REIKI is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent. It is Divine Energy, present through all of us.

REIKI will go where it is needed the most (in the client) and omnipotent. Of course results will vary since we are all individually and collectively subjected to the laws of karma.

REIKI is an acceptance from the un-well person for the prevailing healing energy of the Universe, the life-force that is creation itself and permeates all in a constant flux towards harmony and balance and wellness. The client must be receptive for this "KI" to be transfered towards him or her by Spirit. For this reason we cannot do REIKI on a third person without their express consent and wish. The client must desire to achieve wellness and be receptive to the healing energy that is manifested within and without. Yet there is nothing to "believe in ". Healing energy pervades all and manifests in all.

Developed in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui, it has been adapted into varying cultural traditions around the world. It is believed that Dr. Usui traveled the world studying spiritual traditions in his quest for a healing method before returning to Japan and becoming enlightened. Dr. Usui taught Reiki to over 2000 people before his death. It is now taught by Reiki Masters through individual courses which include actual practice and personal guidance.

Safety concerns for REIKI sessions are very low and are akin to those of many complementary and alternative medicine practices.

REIKI should not be substituted for traditional medicine when a condition exists which can be treated successfully with modern medicine, particularly in cases of life-threatening conditions or illness. For instance someone suffering from a treatable cancer should not rely on Reiki alone but Reiki can help the progress of the healing and recuperation while undergoing medical treatments. And in cases of fatal illnesses where no treatment is available or successful, Reiki can help the person achieve a less difficult passing over.

The Washington Post reported in 2014 that in response to customer demand at least 60 hospitals in the United States offered REIKI at a cost of between $40 and $300 per session. Cancer Research UK reported in 2019 that some cancer centers and hospices in the UK offer free or low-cost REIKI for people with cancer.

Rev. Severina: "I have been a REIKI Master for over 30 years and have helped many clients achieve substantial physical, mental and emotional improvements in their health through REIKI sessions.

I have also received the empowerment of the Medicine Buddha which is closely linked with the healing energy force in Reiki and the BodhiChitta empowerment (for compassion) from H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama.

I offer REIKI in person and through long-distance sessions. My experience with my many past clients has shown me that long-distance REIKI works particularly well with uprooting the emotional and mental blocks and imbalances which often are the root causes of physical ailments and difficulties.

REIKI sessions must always begin with a course of three (3) relatively close sessions such as 3 within 10 days. This is because the effectiveness of REIKI may sometimes trigger a flare-up of symptoms in the first session whereas the second and third sessions help begin the process of self-healing. After the three initial sessions it is recommended for the client to follow a weekly or bi-monthly protocol of regularly spaced sessions.

For this reason I have priced my REIKI sessions (long-distance) at a very reasonable rate: $50 per session with a monthly flat-rate of $200 for one session per week. In person Reiki is $80 per session. Sessions last about 45 minutes each and the client is enjoined to sit lie down during that corresponding time and do a light meditation although I have found with my overseas clients that during sleeping hours also works very well (since the mind is at rest and the household usually quiet and calm). A prior reading is not necessary but knowing the nature of your illness and a precise diagnosis may help visualize the area which needs the most healing although again, REIKI will go where it is needed the most. I prefer to offer REIKI sessions in the evening after the day's hustle and bustle has quieted.

ALL my REIKI sessions are 100% confidential and none of the clients' physical, mental or emotional ailments are ever discussed with others. REIKI is available for all manner of disease, pain management, grieving, mental and emotional imbalances, stress-reduction, and to assist people in death and dying.

REIKI promotes optimum wellness, balance and happiness.
